School & Fioretti Trust
ExpandSt Francis Church of England Primary School and Nursery is very much part of our church family and close links between church and school are well-established.
Our Head Teacher, Jess Mattocks writes, ‘Through living out our Christian ethos and ‘High Five Values’ of compassion, honesty, Integrity, Respect and Perseverance, we are committed to teaching the children to care for one another and be kind and respectful to all. Visitors often comment on the distinctive caring and family feel of our school.’
St Francis C of E Primary is a vibrant, forward-thinking Church of England school located in the leafy suburb of Bournville in Birmingham. We are part of the small, but growing Fioretti Trust who promote the individuality of each school allowing us to meet the needs of the community we serve.
Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. They underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to become confident and happy citizens.
We aspire to be our best! St Francis is a place where everyone grows in mind, body and spirit, with the confidence to be aspirational, independent and creative learners who enjoy their work and achieve in all aspects of their life. We seek through shared service to flourish and succeed through our ‘High Five’ values of love, happiness, forgiveness, friendship and honesty.
Community is important to us at St Francis; we value the strong connections we have with our families, the Church and the broader community.
We value the rich history that our local area of Bournville has upon our children’s educational experience and see educating the children of St Francis as a partnership with families.
Every week, the school gathers for collective worship which is led by Revd Richard, Revd Clare, or Rachel our Youth and Children’s Development Worker.

Inclusive Church
ExpandIn 2024, Bournville Parish Church made a decision to align with Inclusive Church.
As an inclusive church, we celebrate diversity in all its forms, and strive to welcome people of all backgrounds, cultures, ethnicities, genders, sexualities, neurodiversities, and disabilities. We recognise that we have a lot to learn and we welcome opportunities to have constructive conversations that help us to reflect the breadth and depth of God’s love more fully.
Here is a foundational statement written by Inclusive Church about what they believe:
The Inclusive Church Statement
“We believe in inclusive church – a church which celebrates and affirms every person and does not discriminate.
We will continue to challenge the church where it continues to discriminate against people on grounds of disability, economic power, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, learning disability, mental health, neurodiversity, or sexuality.
We believe in a Church which welcomes and serves all people in the name of Jesus Christ; which is scripturally faithful; which seeks to proclaim the Gospel afresh for each generation; and which, in the power of the Holy Spirit, allows all people to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Jesus Christ.”
